The Hijri Calendar in Pakistan

In Pakistan, the Islamic (Hijri) date is governed strictly by the physical sighting of the new crescent moon (Hilal). This process is overseen by the official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Because the Islamic calendar is strictly lunar, the new month begins at sunset on the 29th day of the current month if the moon is sighted. If it is not sighted due to weather or astronomical positioning, the current month completes 30 days.

Why Dates Differ from Saudi Arabia

Pakistan often begins its Islamic months one day after Saudi Arabia. This is because the moon must be physically sighted within Pakistan's borders. Since Pakistan is further east than Saudi Arabia, the moon is often younger and harder to spot on the evening of the 29th.
