Important Note

This date is algorithmically generated based on the Umm al-Qura calendar system.

Actual Hijri dates may vary by ±1 day depending on physical moon sightings and your local Islamic authority.

What is the Hijri Calendar?

The Hijri calendar is the official lunar calendar of Islam. It is used to determine the proper days of Islamic holidays and rituals, such as the annual fasting period (Ramadan) and the proper time for the pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj). The calendar started in the year 622 CE when the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrated from Mecca to Medina, an event known as the Hijrah.

Why Hijri dates may vary

Unlike the Gregorian solar calendar which is mathematically fixed, the traditional Islamic calendar relies on the physical sighting of the new moon crescent at sunset. Because the moon might be visible in one country but obscured or not yet born in another, the start of a month can vary by a day around the world.

Our tool uses the algorithm-based Umm al-Qura calendar system for estimation. Please always verify critical dates like the start of Ramadan or Eid with your local mosque.
