What is Qibla?

The Qibla is the fixed direction towards the Kaaba in the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. It is the direction all Muslims face when performing their daily prayers (Salah). Knowing the correct Qibla direction is a fundamental requirement for prayer.

How Qibla direction is calculated

Our tool uses the great-circle navigation mathematical formula to calculate the shortest path between your current location and the Kaaba (Latitude 21.4225° N, Longitude 39.8262° E). This provides the exact degree bearing relative to True North.

Why location permission is needed

To calculate the bearing, we need to know your exact starting point. When you click "Find My Qibla Direction", your browser will ask for permission to use your GPS coordinates. We do not store, track, or save this data on our servers—it is only used directly inside your browser for this single calculation.

Accuracy note

While the mathematical formula provides perfect accuracy, the compass visualization depends entirely on your phone or computer's internal magnetometer hardware. Compass direction may vary depending on your device sensors and location accuracy. We recommend keeping your device away from metallic objects and performing a figure-eight motion to calibrate your compass before use.
